WE ARE RANGELANDS & WE REPRESENT YOU
PAST PRESIDENTJOsh(JT) tashiro“Nature is an open book for those who care to read. Each grass-covered hillside is a page on which is written the history of the past, conditions of the present, and the predictions of the future.” – John Ernest Weaver |
PRESIDENTEmmett jordanWinston Churchill once famously said that there is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a person. I’d like to think rangelands have the same effect. |
president ElectRetta Bruegger“One thing I love about rangelands is if you are a range nerd, even highway medians can be interesting. My favorite quote is by Jack Handy: ‘I don't think God put me on this planet to judge others. I think He put me on this planet to gather specimens and take them back to my home planet.’” |

" I love rangelands because the biodiversity can be subtle yet unique. At a first glance, they may seem uniform but once you actually stop and look around, you will notice the variety of color in the soil crusts, the abundance of insects working tirelessly, the simple wonder in the florets of a blue grama stem, and the song of a meadowlark." |

Dan NosalI love rangelands because they offer the opportunity for grazing animals, without artificial inputs, to convert native vegetation into a healthy grass-fed product. With proper holistic management, this can be achieved while regenerating the ecosystem for all life on the prairie. This regenerative grazing movement is why I am excited for the future of rangeland management! |
Board memberSara koeppel"I love rangelands because they are vast, beautifully complex, and ecologically diverse. They are the soul of the American West and are important ecologically and culturally." |
Board memberJulie Larson"It’s always felt important to me to do science and service that simultaneously help the land and the people who use it, and I can’t think of a better system to work in than rangelands. Rangelands are one the best examples of a system that where it is possible for us to coexist with the wild, using the land while also giving back to it." |
