2023 fall Ranch Tour in SouthEast Colorado!!!
Bader Ranch Tour
Rangeland Recovery following Wildfire and Drought using managed grazing
This scenic ranch has been owned by the Bader family since 1991 when they sold their ranch near Mancos and moved to southeastern Colorado. The 18,000-acre Bader Ranch is a cow-calf operation with spring and fall calving enterprises. Their business model includes a big game fee-hunting component. Rangeland health is maintained using adaptive planned grazing that considers the landscape as a whole. The Bader’s manage their grazing by working with the natural ecosystem as much as possible, not against it. In June of 2011 a wildfire burned sixtyone percent of the ranch. This field day will emphasize how the tools of grazing, proper stocking, and plant recovery have been used to restore range health in the face of persistent below-average rainfall. Plan to join us to experience well managed rangeland and the picturesque sandstone canyonlands of southeastern Colorado.
